Overflowing ramen. Jiro-style ramen! Ramen Taro in Gotanda

Jiro-style ramen

Two stops from Shinagawa Station, a short walk from Gotanda Station, there’s an aggressive ramen shop.

Ramen Taro: The Battle of Gotanda

The name of the shop is Ramen Taro: The Battlefield of Gotanda.
Before I knew it, eating Jiro-style ramen had come to be called a battle.

Tasting
Ramen Taro

This calorie bomb makes me lose myself. I slurp relentlessly, chew the noodles, then slurp again. Repeat. The occasional chashu makes my mouth dry, naturally drawing me back to the soup. Lighter than it looks, the broth refreshes my palate, ready for more noodles.
I sweat while eating. Dieting is a useless word. I’ll eat voraciously.
I can’t even manage half the portion. I’m just struggling to eat.
That’s what Jiro-style ramen is all about.

Word of mouth
A:
Visited in the evening, and when I entered there were zero customers, which made me a bit worried😅… but it’s perfectly normal. For a Jiro-style ramen, it has a gentler flavor profile. The noodles are thick, and the chashu pork is quite substantial… but it still feels a bit lacking in punch. Even so, I’d recommend it as a “mild Jiro-style” ramen♪

B:
I entered around 2:30 PM on a weekday. There were only two customers ahead of me, so I got seated right away without waiting. Water is self-serve. It might be common at ramen shops, but the tables and floor were a bit dirty and sticky, which was disappointing. I ordered the ramen with extra veggies and extra fat. It’s a great bowl to recommend when you want to eat lots of vegetables.

A lively and delicious neighborhood recommended for your Japan trip. Savor sushi and yakitori in Asakusa.

Sushi Restaurant “Tuna Man”

I went to a sushi restaurant in the old downtown area of Asakusa, Tokyo.
It’s delicious and quick. The address is listed at the bottom of the good restaurant page.

Asakusa has been a bustling town where people gather for over 300 years. It’s what you’d call a downtown area. There are also menus written in English.

After enjoying sushi, head to a Japanese yakitori restaurant.
They serve grilled chicken skewers and grilled pork; the pork version is called “yakiton.”

A comforting bowl of ramen, here I come.
A ramen shop inside Tamachi Tower, about a 5-minute walk from Tamachi Station.
Weekday, 1:30 PM, no wait.
Greeted cheerfully by the floor staff, I bought my meal ticket first before taking a seat.Sunlight streams in from outside, making the bright interior feel pleasant.

Today’s order:
Chūka Soba
Took about 5 minutes to arrive.
The clear broth looked beautiful. First sip.
You’d never guess pork bones were used—no gaminess or strong flavor at all. The perfectly balanced saltiness soaked into my body.

The flat noodles, a perfect match for this delicate broth, had a nice bite yet were easy to slurp down. My chopsticks moved effortlessly.
Dipping the generous pile of scallions into the piping hot broth releases their wonderful aroma, making the soup even more delicious.
The toppings are very simple, embodying the essence of Chinese noodles! No frills whatsoever. lol

The dark, crispy bamboo shoots feel somehow nostalgic.
And the perfectly arranged slices of chashu pork are absolutely superb. While hardly greasy at all, the meat is incredibly tender and free of any unpleasant odor.

I found myself savoring each slice, murmuring “This is delicious~” as I chewed.
Honestly, I’m not usually a big fan of chashu pork (it’s often greasy or has that distinctive smell…), but I found myself wanting more of this shop’s version.
I’d underestimated it because it’s a chain restaurant, but it was a truly delicious bowl.

I went for the big dumplings because I wanted to eat dumplings.
I had been curious about the design of the restaurant for a while, so I went in.

Unusually carbonated Chinese liquor. Interesting variety of dumplings. I ordered the recommended dumpling. I don’t see an English menu in this restaurant.

I traveled to Sendai. Walking around the main place

I went to Sendai.

Did you know that there is a whisky and Nikka factory in Sendai?
The manufacturing plant process is shown here. You can also see the hit products that have been made up to now here.

Naturally, you can sample delicious Nikka whiskey here.

There is a proper warehouse and a whiskey atmosphere.

I went to see the ruins of Date Masamune’s castle. We found a nice lawn. White My emotions were more excited than the castle.

Date Masamune is a famous military commander in Japan. I went to see the ruins of his castle, but the slope is steep and tough. As you can see on the map, it is a good size there.

Even after his death, Date Masamune worked hard as a tourist ambassador in this world as a bronze statue.

Sendai seems like a good city. I am sure it is because he is watching over us.

Beef tongue sushi. Conveyor-belt sushi in Sendai, which I had never heard of. Recommended restaurants.

Sendai is the city of beef tongue. No way, there was beef tongue sushi at a sushi restaurant.
