Not very famous, but a standard pure sake. However, it won a gold medal in Niigata Prefecture.

Another day for a quiet solitary drink

I didn’t go to the liquor store much today. I tasted a bottle of sake and it was so good that I bought one!

The number of times it has been awarded the Gold Prize is 29 times in total.

Niigata Prefecture is famous for its sake, and the competition is fierce. Among these, the continuous awarding of this prize is to be expected.

Yoshinokawa the best Ginjo

You see the sake degree indicated.

Sake degree is a numerical value of the amount of sugar contained in sake. It is also used as a standard to help drinkers know how sweet or spicy sake is from what is listed in the sales section of a store or on a website. Sake degree is expressed as a positive or negative number, such as +3.0 or -1.0.

Comment:A
Visiting sake breweries on a business trip to Niigata to collect sake stamp books.
Niigata is far away. The taste is delicious.

Comment:B
If there is a sake in Niigata that is light, this is the one I would choose!
It has a good balance of rice flavor, aroma, and bitterness!
Versatile sake!

Easy to drink and well balanced. It has a somewhat Showa-era sake feel to it, so beginners may find it a bit alcoholic.

I warmed it up.

Better than cold. It is easier to drink as the corners are removed and the flavor and alcohol feel is diminished. This is recommended to be drunk warm.

Sake popular overseas. Datssai.Cold brewed early in the tank. How does it taste?

We have been drinking it since last time. Otter Everyone knows the very famous sake

寒造早槽 Kanzukuri Hayafune

Therefore, fresh new sake is shipped at any time of the year, but as the name “Kanzou Haya Tanka” remains on this product, this sake is a limited edition specially brewed only for the cold winter season. All the rice used is Yamadanishiki. Previously, the rice was polished to 48%, but starting in 2019, it will be polished an additional 3%, making it even more refined and beautiful in taste than before.

Sanwari Kubun means 39% milled rice ratio. The lower the milling ratio, the higher the price of sake.
It takes a lot of skill to go from brown rice to 39% white rice, and it takes a lot of ingredients because the amount of rice is smaller.

It says “Dassai” on the bottle.

Open the bottle.

It is sweet. Compared to Saku, it has a unique ginjo aroma.

Otters have a surprisingly distinctive aroma that is easy to recognize.

Comment A:
A long time ago, I thought it was sold at a huge premium and resold, but I wonder if it has become easier to obtain these days.
I couldn’t help but pick up a bottle at a local liquor store for about 1,700 yen for a four-pack!The rice flavor or sweetness is irresistible! Easy to drink!
A definite sake! It’s perfect for me, a meek person!

Comment B:
This is the sake that made me learn how to drink sake. It’s so smooth and refreshing.

Dassai Taste Evaluation

It feels sweeter than the others. It’s like sweet comes after spicy without the miscellaneous taste. Smelly fish. It is just right as a mouthwash for fatty fish. I would like to have more spiciness because it has a strong sweet taste.

Today’s snack

I grilled the meat from Costco over charcoal. Surprisingly, the charred corners are just the right combination of sweetness.

It was another good day.

Hell-Bound Ramen Exists in Japan. Hellishly spicy ramen

In Gotanda, Tokyo, I found a ramen restaurant called Hell’s Tantanmen. Today, I would like to tell you about it.

Recently there has been a spicy food boom in Japan, and more and more people are entering restaurants in search of spicy food.

I entered a spicy-looking restaurant.

The small restaurant is crowded with people who have come for the spicy food.

Hell's Food Ticket

You purchase a meal ticket from a meal ticket machine, which is unique to Japan, and hand it to the waiter.

There are also mysterious objects, and the atmosphere is just like hell.

You can choose the amount of noodles you want, so tell the waiter how much you want when you order.

Tantanmen that came to me, challenging the beginner’s spiciness. It does not look spicy, but it is spicy enough. Next time, I plan to try another level of spiciness.

I went to a sake brewery a few hours drive from Tokyo and saw it.

Today, too, I’m drinking alone in the dust.
Today I went to see the mountains of Japan with beautiful autumn leaves and to walk around a Japanese brewery.

Shichiken” is the sake we introduced before. I visited the brewery.

There was not a big picture on the website.

I went there with no expectations, thinking it was a small, cozy warehouse. However!

The Hakushu whiskey factory and beer brewery are located near the brewery, testifying to the quality of the water.

I learned that wagyu beef and sake go surprisingly well together.

Today, too, I am drinking sake by myself. As usual, I’m drinking sake that I’m interested in. It’s been one year. Thank you very much for those who have been watching this site from the beginning. I feel that the sake season has finally started when the autumn hiyaoroshi (autumn harvest) is released. Sake liquor stores are also crowded with various brands of sake. It is natural that after the rice harvest, sake is made to support the farmers. In the old days, it used to be hard work, with hands plunging into cold water in biting temperatures from early in the morning. In recent years, with air conditioning and electricity, the harshness of the natural world seems to have been slightly lessened, but the physical labor seems to have remained the same.

Putting those feelings aside, I just want to enjoy the food and go to the bar today!

As usual I am not a fan of the word premier.

I did some research.

Yui is the 16th post town on the 53 Stages of the Tokaido Highway, and was even depicted in ukiyoe paintings by the Edo period painter Hiroshige Utagawa. In 1912, Kinzo Mochizuki and his son Yoshimatsu, who were engaged in forestry and sericulture in the mountains north of where the brewery is now located, founded a sake brewery out of their passion for sake. When they started brewing sake, they searched for water suitable for sake and set up their brewery beside the Kanazawa River.

For today’s snack, we wanted to try a pairing, so I went all out and had Wagyu beef steak!

I tried to see if sake and wagyu steak really go well together. I discovered that it was a revolutionary match. I discovered that modern-flavored sake in a wine glass goes well with Wagyu beef.

It was another good day.

Japan’s Izakaya is finally getting very cheap prices

This section explains how to read the signs of Japanese izakaya (Japanese style pubs).

First of all, please pay attention to this Japanese.

半額

This word “半額” indicates 50% off.

However, caution is advised. There are often conditions attached. It may be happy hour, or only the first drink, etc. Please check the explanation carefully before you order. Ask the waiter. They will explain it to you.

And the next thing I want to draw your attention to is the “~” symbol. This means that the price starts from that amount or higher.

signboard
signboard

There is usually a small variety of these lowest-priced products. Mostly disappointing.

signboard

Note the Kanji character for “飲み放題” refers to a course that allows you to drink as many drinks as you want with a time limit. There is another trap hidden here. Cheaper courses may not include beer or popular items. The unfortunate result is that you end up having to pay additional fees.

If you see a sign that says something convenient, you should guess that there is some kind of trap.

Nevertheless, please enjoy the Japanese izakaya restaurant, a place with a very pleasant atmosphere.
